Episode 60: Feeling Anxious? Hear This First
Hello everybody and welcome, welcome, welcome back to another episode of Kosmo Unfiltered.
As usual, it’s me Kosmo and my boy Wes.
Today’s episode is gonna be one that everybody can relate to.
Because today, Wes and I open up on what we do when we get anxious.
So let’s not waste any more time and get straight into it!
Psstt… If you like what we’re doing, don’t forget to like, comment and subscribe on whatever platform you’re watching on.
And if you really like it… why not share it with a friend… after all we don’t run ads or any of that garbage.
So let’s get into it!
The One Thing I Ain’t Ever Doing Again
OK so I’ve dealt with anxiety my whole life.
And it’s not fun.
But the one thing which I will never, ever, ever do again, is take Xanax.
Man out of all the drugs in the world, that one is by far the very, very worst of the lot.
You know how long it took me to get off it?
It took SIX MONTHS for me to get off it.
Like man, I don’t even recommend that stuff for more than a couple of days.
It is by far the most difficult one of them all to get off.
But at the end of the day, I think it’s all very situational.
Like what helped me massively was being able to realize when I was feeling anxious… like the situational factors which triggered it.
But there’s also a super-useful breathing hack which I learned:
And it goes a little something like this:
I breathe in through my nose for 7 seconds deeply…
I hold it for a couple seconds…
And breathe out through my mouth for 7 full seconds… making sure I get all the air out of my lungs.
And I could do that as many times as I need, sometimes up to 20 times.
Then sometimes I think to myself, “Who is the calmest person I know?”
And then I just picture that person being in my presence.
But wait…
It gets better…
Then… I start to imagine the second calmest person I know, and I imagine they are with us too. Then I start to picture us all breathing together, synchronizing each breath.
And OK you probably think I sound insane…
But did you know why we hug?
It’s because our breathing and our heartbeat connect. Next time you hug someone, feel your heartbeat and theirs connect and watch how it feels.
Works like a charm. Every time.
I mean I know there’s no science to back up the idea of visualizing a calming person with you when you’re anxious.
But it does the job for me.
And I bet ya it’ll do the same for you too.
